Edy’s scores touchdown with football ice cream

Edy's Touchdown Sundae

Edy's provides fun footballs filled with caramel

Available: Most grocery stores; available through February

I’m always checking out Edy’s ice cream to see what they develop next. Birthday Cake and Cookie Dough are two that can usually be found in my freezer. The latest limited edition comes just in time for the Superbowl — Edy’s Touchdown Sundae!

Fudge ribbons and a vanilla base are delicious, but what I savor most is “catching” one of the milk chocolate footballs on my spoon. When you bite into them, smooth caramel spills out. A bonus with Edy’s ice cream flavors is the fat factor. The company introduces products that sound like calorie heavyweights, but they are far less than other full fat ice cream products with fat contents of about 12 grams. Touchdown Sundae is 5 grams of fat and is made with whey and skim milk. This ice cream still manages to taste creamy.

It’s a great addition to any Superbowl party, but also good enough to purchase a couple extras to keep you going until baseball season.
